In 2010, I decided
to try out Multi Level Marketing a midst the hesitations and opinions
of my peers. Why? Simple actually, my career in the corporate world (BPO) was
not providing which was expected to sustain my family and when I say sustain, I
no longer associate it to the word "survive" for a day but rather I
wanted more for my growing family. Other than the fact that a lot of people are
making fortunes from it. I do have my own research and it’s just logical to
listen to somebody who succeeds rather than somebody who failed. It’s basic,
like any business, why would I dive into battle unequipped and listen to
somebody who didn't win, right? =)
This is what I had
in my head, my career is at its peak but the environment was
"insufficient" if I may say (no negativity here
rather that's the best word I can think of to describe it) among
other factors like no more quality time for both family and even myself, work
was taking its toll on my health ( and trust me, they may deny it all they
want, that the industry has no direct impact on its employee's health condition
but the reality speaks for itself. In and outside the office, I even came to a
conclusion that's its affecting some people’s emotional even mental
state) and personally I don’t want to grow old in this
industry.
So I said, I know I’m good (personal PEP talk) results speak for it so why not
try something new. Besides, I can always come back and work the ladder up. BPO's even if
their merging will always be there. If you did it once, you can do it again!
Also, nobody is growing any younger, I might as well try now then try at my
40's and be haunted by that cliché "What if?"
Actually I have a
lot to tell and say but let’s focus on the idea on why I chose a certain
company compared to the rest and what really made me decide or maybe
"stay".
I encountered MLM
through my wife's cousin, Ryan, successful, professional and down to
earth. What really caught my attention other than the earning
potential was his companies vision "To Uplift a billion
lives" seriously that's a different level. I don’t even remember people in
my industry taking their vision and core values seriously. But being my
typical self I just won’t settle on 1 resource so I did a little
research for comparison before making that decision.
So, I checked different MLM's or Networking companies while still managing my
work since I only decided to do it part time. I saw a lot of companies to be
honest and even heard a lot more. Success stories, horror stories even
some people with over the top stories. Being a analytic or logic
base, those didn’t really impress me besides I won’t go into details but I even
met some people whose business ethics
and professionalism in MLM are quite questionable if not "does
not exist" at all. I dont want to judge, I just thought of it this way, it’s
like the government, it’s supposed to be a fine institution to serve the
people but due to some personalities or entities they give it a bad wrap or
hideous impression due to their own personal actions. So, out of respect I will
listen, say thank you, move on with a mind setting that there is somebody there
that would suit and meet my expectations.
So after awhile, I didn’t really decide to join any of them rather my wife went
ahead and made the decision for us (which now I am grateful that she did) let’s
just say that went to a little discussion and then eventually I just thought why
not, were here already and he's a family and I don’t think my wife’s cousin
would bring us to any harm.
So I learned the
business and honestly, there is something unique and amazing that I got to know about GFI that none of the other companies was able to uphold in their business
and distributors.
What you may ask? Well, I know you heard it before as well even at work. The
word or words "welcome to your family! We are a community here"
Yeah, I heard that
also at work, but "work community" is not such loving community,
honest and ... you get the point. In a world were my stats should be higher than
yours to secure my position, it’s very different. I’m not saying that there is
a no "real" community in my industry, there is but honesty its
"rare"
So going back to GFI's community or culture, I saw an open, honest and ethical, day in day out not only from the distributors but it manifested from the
President, VP going down to its distributors. It’s their talk and walks that
made the difference. Besides, where can I find a place where the VP of the
company and training has that pure intent of reaching out to all and the sole
purpose is helping you grow as a person, a leader, other than just earning.
That's why we call him Chief. Here when they say, you will earn but GROW as well,
they mean it.
Connecting in heart and in mind
there were definitely challenges, and they were honest about it.
"Dondy, this is not get rich scheme, overnight"
Me: yeah thanks for head up =) but you know what we have been challenged in
what we do everyday anyway so what the difference? Might as well face the
challenge that yields and creates a better future.
I believed that I
wouldn’t have lasted and stayed this long if we were not connected in heart and
mind. That's the foundation I saw, what they teach and what I learned. That's the way it has been and I believe that's the best way & it will always be.
The foundation or community that they raised spans culture, race, age, gender,
religion or politics. It happened because I saw that their intentions were
pure. As far as I’m concerned, with my limited expertise at that time, there
teachings seem to lead to one word only - love. As they say, it isn’t
everything, it’s the only thing.
I know, what you’re thinking at this point? Hey you said Networking and earn
money! Yeah, so did I thought but this guys perceived and envisioned such ideas
that I myself was over whelm when I let myself absorb and understand.
Understand what? That’s there is more to just earning money, it’s about
"Uplifting a billions lives"
The power of the Mind
I mentioned overwhelm above, yes, why? It’s the intensity of our thoughts and
the power that our minds can create. This what I learned "it really
depends on the persons openness, willingness, to trust the process of upgrading
the mind in knowledge and attitude.
One Billion Lives
amazing right?! When I let myself learn the value of this I got to know "how". Why
not ask the why? Because most people I met always ask one billion lives? How?
What got us to make a difference in 10, or 40 or 2,000 lives is the same thing.
It is the battle cry from the start - a genuine love and
care for one another. As well as the resolve of everyone that has been
touched by GFI to allow other people to experience the same.
One World, One Family
In GFI, the world,
the people, the teams no matter how diverse, understand and speak one language
of genuine care and concern for others out of the sheer intention to uplift and
to be better.
Apart from the significant financial gain, 8 million or a new BMW, more
importantly I believe what makes GFI so resilient are the gains that
can’t be quantified. We thrive because of the things we have deemed priceless.
So once again, welcome to your family
it’s not your typical or accustomed welcome as protocol.
It’s a genuine welcome, to a warm company, accommodating people, relaxed
atmosphere and helpful individuals. Usually it will be with a sly knowing smile,
like saying, "You have no idea what’s about to hit you!"
So in closing, did I find what I was looking for?
Yes, and you don’t know half of it =)
